Post Pregnancy Update

I thought it would be fun to write a post pregnancy update similar to my pregnancy update format...here you go!

How Far Along? After carrying him for about 42 weeks, Robert Oscar finally made his appearance on November 12.  As of today, he’s 11 days old.

Size of Baby?  He was 7 lbs, 8 oz when he was born, and 7 lbs, 1 oz 3 days later at his first doctor’s appointment.  He was 20.5 inches long…per the doc he’s approximately 65% in height and 35% in weight (those are rough estimates, we didn’t write down percentiles and we’re running on parental sleep deprived brains right now)…so he’s tall and skinny, just like his parents (HA!).

Maternity Clothes?  I CAN FIT INTO MY OLD T-SHIRTS!!  YAAAAY!  Granted, I still am wearing some big shirts (the boobs are huge) and one pair of my maternity jeans (the dark pair are too big and kind of sag), and my pre-pregnancy jeans obviously don’t exactly button just yet, but we are working towards that goal.  The Belly Band and rubber bands are coming in handy once again to help keep my pants on!  J

Weight Gain (LOSS!)?   I gained just over 20 lbs with him…and as of this morning I had lost about 17 lbs.  Unfortunately I know that I lost muscle too, so while my weight is back down, my belly is still on the larger side and my boobs are gargantuan.  It will take a while to get back to pre-preggo shape, but I’m gonna do it!

Gender?  Boy!  Robert Oscar (Thank goodness this was correct or else we would have been screwed with all the boy stuff we have!)

Sleep?  What is this sleep you speak of??  Actually, he’s been pretty good…we just wake up regularly at night for feedings (usually 2 or 3 a night, depending on when we go to bed and when we get up).  And I’ve been trying to take naps too…naps are easier with a sleeping baby laying on you J.

Food Cravings?  EVERYTHING!  I can have food without wanting to gag and having heartburn!!  Hooray!  I had a pint of ice cream when we got home from the hospital and it was delicious.  However, I think little Rob-O’s gut doesn’t handle it very well, because he kind of smelled like sulfur the next day.  I will probably be avoiding dairy and gluten at least for the first month or so (with an occasional treat here and there).  I feel a lot hungrier NOW than I did when I was pregnant.  Weird.

What I Miss?  NOTHING! J  I can eat without heartburn, I can bend over, I can stoop to my knees, I can curl up in a ball while sleeping, I can sleep on my back, belly, sides…I can roll over comfortably and easily!  THIS IS AWESOME!  I can’t wait to get back in the gym and start lifting weights!

Symptoms?  Sleepiness and sore boobs of a nursing new mom

Belly Button?  It’s back in (mostly)!

Best Moment of the Week?  There are too many to count!  BJ and I could just look at him all day long in amazement.  He is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to us…his expressions crack us up constantly.  Apparently he kind of looks like me when I was a baby, but I think his expressions and demeanor are more like BJ.  I can’t believe we’ve been blessed with someone so amazing.

42 Week Update

I have nothing to update.  I'm still pregnant.  The end.

Update!

Hello all!

I had an NST this morning (nonstress test) and it went great!  The baby is super "reactive" meaning that he was moving around a lot and his heart rate would increase with his movement.  Normally these tests take about 20 minutes and they want to see at least 2 spikes in heart rate correlating with baby movement...I easily had that in probably the first 5 minutes (I told you he's a mover and a shaker!).  The PA who was monitoring the test came back in the room after the first 10 minutes and was like, "Whoa you're done!"  So, no surprise, Rob-O aced his first test (I mean, duh...he's the offspring of me and Beej...this will be the first of many aced tests).

The PA went and showed the schematic (the graph looking paper with squiggly lines on it that came from the machine to which I was hooked up) to the doctor, who then decided to come in and do a quick exam.  The schematic showed the baby's heart rate patterns and also uterine pressure (contractions).  So apparently I was having a few contraction like pressures even though I couldn't really feel them.  The doc checked me out and I was 1 cm dilated!!  YAAAAAY!  (I realize this is NOT a lot at all, but it's better than nothing and since I haven't shown progress in the last 3 or 4 weeks, this feels like a victory!)  Since I was closed up tight during my appointment on Monday the doctor was encouraged by the fact that I had made SOME sort of progress over the last few days, and therefore feels more confident that if we have to induce next week that it has a better chance of being successful.  HOPEFULLY we don't have to worry about that and I'll just go into labor naturally sometime between now and Monday...cross your fingers everyone!!

41 Week Update

Yes...41 weeks.  Today (November 5th) is either 41 weeks and 2 days or 40 weeks and 5 days, depending on which "due date" you go with (I mean, seriously, they're all guesses, but I had two sonograms during the first trimester that gave me slightly differing dates).  Either way, I'm pretty sure this kiddo is done cooking and is just freeloading at this point.  I am a wee bit discouraged this afternoon as I had my weekly doctor's appointment and I still haven't made any progress.  My Bishop Score is still 0 and the doctor said if we absolutely had to deliver the baby like, RIGHT NOW, we'd TRY to induce but the likelihood of induction working was very low and we'd most likely result in a c-section.  Luckily, I'm healthy, the baby's healthy, and there is no pressing NEED to have the kiddo right now, other than my impatience and desire to dress him up in little baby clothes and hats. :)  I have an NST on Thursday, and if everything is well with that (which I'm guessing it will be) then we'll just wait til my next appointment NEXT Monday and at that point I think they'll try to induce b/c I'll either be 42 weeks and 2 days or 41 weeks and 5 days.

My face says, "Yes, I'm still pregnant...yes, I'm kind of ready to be done..."

The Nursery

For your viewing pleasure, some pictures of the nursery!  Now we just need a baby to occupy the space...

Here's the little one's crib.  The cord you see is for the video monitor that's mounted on the wall above the bed.  We have some safari themed bedding in there right now (don't worry, I'll remove all suffocation risks when he's in there).  We also have a Norman Rockwell picture hanging over his bed, because who doesn't love "A Boy and His Dog"??  The owl clock will probably go on the wall there between the window and the crib.

More pictures of the crib...cute mobile, a fun kangaroo and Ryan the Lion, as well as our froggy blanket that is SUPER soft and cuddly.

Here's the changing table/dresser.  I like that this piece can grow with him...and I just love dark wood!

We will be adding a picture of our little family in the picture frame once he joins us...until then it's sitting there with a Scentsy monkey and the lamp (with a tweedy, menswear inspired lamp shade, which will be useful even into his teen years!)

This is the rocker we're going to be using.  It was my Papa's (he's the Oscar that Robert Oscar is named after)...it's leather and soft and a recliner as well.  It works well with the whole feel of the room, and I love that I can rock little O in big O's chair.  The blanket on the back of the chair was a shower gift and it is SUPER comfy and soft and I just might have to steal it from the kiddo.
I hung the Hootie clock in his room...I think it's a nice touch.

I painted these little guys to put in his room as well...there's the R with the monkey tail, the owl, and then a brown background with BJ's and my handprint on it.  When Rosco is born we'll add his little hand print to the center!

Cute little stool my sweet friend Jayne bought for him...if he's a shorty like his momma he'll need it to reach things! :)

40 Week Update

It is officially my due date...and I'm still way pregnant!  It's funny to hear people telling me, "Oh you'll have him soon, you've definitely dropped!" then the next person I see will tell me, "It might still be a while, it doesn't look like you've dropped yet!"  It's also funny to watch strangers' faces when they ask me, "Oh, when are you due?" and I say, "Today" (or "Saturday" or "Yesterday" as I'm sure I'll do tomorrow)...their eyes get really wide like I'm going to have the kid right then and there.  Basically, God and Rob-O are the only ones who know when he'll come, so I'm just not stressing about it.  I'll know when it's time to go to the hospital because a) my water will have broken or b) contractions will be strong enough and regular enough for me to know that they're actual contractions (still not sure if I've had any yet) and we will have timed them and stuff.  Until then I'm just going to continue doing what I do (not really sure what that is just yet) and resting when I get tired.

I have a doctor's appointment on Monday, and we may discuss scheduling an induction, but I think I'll still try to give him at least another week or two to come out on his own...heck I was almost a month late (Sorry Mom!) and my bros were both at a week or two late.  I'm not completely miserable or anything (even if I do whine a little now and then) and if the baby's still healthy in there, why try to take him out before he's ready?

Pardon the crazy hair, it was still drying.  This sweater is a non-maternity sweater that was always just REALLY long on me (I think NY & Co?) so now that my belly is huge, it actually hits me at a normal spot, yay!

Alright, Rob-O, lets get this show on the road!  Please come join us soon! :)

39 Week Update

You guessed it...still pregnant!  Luckily Rob-O allowed me to go to Homecoming this past weekend (so much fun!), but now he is officially allowed to come out whenever he wants (maybe sooner rather than later?).  I think we're about as "ready" as we're going to get, so now I'm just anxious to meet him!  I still have heartburn, my belly button is still out (like, way out) and I'm holding steady at the same weight I've been for the past month and a half.  Nothing much has changed since last week! :)

The house has come together quite nicely (special thanks to my mom for her love of cleaning and her willingness to come over and mop/vacuum/clean the kitchen)...we really just need to paint a few more walls (probably won't get done before the baby comes) and go through some boxes that we have in closets (hopefully will get done this week).  The weather here in Tulsa has been actually pretty warm this past week, so I've been wearing my maternity shorts and t-shirts, which is good since the majority of my maternity clothes ARE warm weather items.  Hopefully it does cool off soon though and become "fall" again because it's my favorite season. :)

I went to the doctor this afternoon and he said that I'm still not progressing, but the baby's fine (good heartbeat, making those breathing motions, plenty of fluid around him and he's still moving around like crazy) so I think we're just going to keep waiting it out!  No discussion of induction yet (yay), but BJ and I are wondering if maybe we'll have the baby next Monday on the full moon (it seems that lots of babies are born during a full moon).  If he comes on a full moon, I will call him Wolfie.  :)

Here's the latest picture...and yes I am huge, but I guess that can be expected when you are in your 40th week of pregnancy...

Quick update!

Went to the doctor this afternoon...still pregnant...still gonna be pregnant for a while I think!  Lol!  Little Robert is snug and warm in mommy's belly and isn't really showing any sign of trying to come out anytime soon, so we're gonna just let him cook until he's ready!  I also think he's part tazmanian devil based on all of the spinning, kicking, and general movement going on in there.  This kid obviously will have his mother's spaziness.

38 Week Update

Alright, I think most of my questions & answers are staying the same, so I'm just going to update normally, not with any template!  I am now 38 weeks along (wow!)...The Bump says he's the size of a pumpkin (but I'm guessing a smaller pumpkin, not one of the huge jack-o-lantern pumpkins).  The kiddo can really vary in size, anywhere from just over 6 lbs to 9 lbs (praying that 9 lbs is not the case here).

My "special" pumpkin from a couple of years ago...
I've still been holding steady at a 20 lbs weight gain...I might ask my doc about that during my appointment on Tuesday, just to double check if that's okay...maybe he can perscribe me a dozen cookies or something if necessary ;).  I've been sleeping pretty well, still only dealing with heartburn as my main "symptom" of pregnancy (other than the fact that it looks like I'm smuggling a basketball under my shirt).  I went to the doctor on Monday of this past week and he said everything looked good...baby Rob-O is making breathing motions, and I'm pretty sure I felt him "breathing" the other day.  The doctor said I wasn't dilated yet, and the head is still high up, but I am progressing, so hooray!  I'm interested in seeing how much progress we've made in a week when I go to my appointment on Tuesday! :)

Last Monday night we went and toured the hospital at which I will be delivering little Rob-O.  On Tuesday night we had our last lamaze/"Prepared Childbirth" class.  We've got the car seat base in the car, I THINK I have my labor bag mostly packed (I'm sure I'm forgetting something), and Rob's room is officially ready for him and I think 99% of his stuff has been washed...so it's finally starting to sink in that at any point in the next few weeks I could be heading to the hospital and coming back with a BABY!  Whaaat?!  How crazy is that?  I know that it's kind of a crapshoot when "predicting" when this kid will come, but I feel better knowing that I should DEFINITELY know when it's time to go to the hospital...either my water will break or I will have realized that I'm having regular contractions for the duration that the medical experts have indicated.  It could happen tonight, it could happen in 2 or 3 weeks...WHO KNOWS?!?    I just have to be ready, and I think I just may be!

38 Weeks!  Accessorizing "the bump" with a scarf, tall brown boots and big gold earrings.

37 Week Update

How Far Along? 37 weeks…officially full term!

Size of Baby?  About the size of a winter melon (no idea what that really is)…approximately 19-20 inches long and a bit over 6 lbs!

Maternity Clothes?  Maternity clothes and BJ’s old long sleeve t-shirts…I really should have bought more fall/winter maternity things.  The high today is supposed to be in the low 50s and I have one maternity sweater (3/4 sleeve), two pairs of jeans and a pair of leggings.  Crap.

Weight Gain?  Holding at around 20 lbs

Gender?  Boy!  Robert Oscar

Sleep?  Sleep is great…most mornings I don’t want to wake up J

Food Cravings? Well, due to my heartburning, my nightly treat has been popsicles.  It’s sweet (but not that bad, only 8 grams of sugar per pop) and cold and doesn’t contain dairy…I’ll take it.

What I Miss?  My cute fall clothes.  And unfortunately I get emails from Banana, Gap, Old Navy, etc., that show all the cute fall trends that I can’t wear at the moment…but at least it’s motivation for the post-baby body project!

Symptoms?  Heartburn, round ligament pain, general giant-ness and uncomfortableness.

Belly Button?  Out

Best Moment of the Week?  Just continuing to sort Rob-O’s clothes and do laundry and get everything ready for his arrival!  We’re getting the house cleaned up/set up, slowly but surely.  And (this is when you KNOW you’ve gotten old) we ordered a new dishwasher and finally had it delivered today!!  Yaaaay!!  The dishwasher that came with the house was pretty dang old and crummy…you couldn’t really fit more than one day’s worth of dishes in it, and even then they didn’t get really clean, and it was LOUD.  We ordered a dishwasher that was a step down from the one we had in Dallas (got it on sale and got an extra 10% off thanks to a coupon, holla!), but it still looks pretty dang amazing and will definitely give us more room to add dishes, bottles, etc.  I want to go wash some dishes now.  Weird.

This pic was taken at my parents' house.  I'm sporting my TU shirt because it's game day (obvi).  We won, but it was ugly.  P.S. I'm a whale.

36 Week Update

How Far Along? 36 Weeks!

Size of Baby?  About the size of a honeydew melon…approximately 18 ½ inches long and almost 6 lbs!

Maternity Clothes?  Maternity…I am tempted to buy some new maternity clothes but I keep having to remind myself I’m only going to be pregnant for another month…I don’t really NEED to buy more stuff…I’m already doing plenty of spending for the baby!

Weight Gain?  Still chillin’ at the 20ish lb mark.

Gender?  Boy!  Robert Oscar

Sleep?  Sleep is great when I don’t have heartburn.  Unfortunately, I keep eating chocolate and getting heartburn.  :-\ STOP YOURSELF…BE STRONG, JENNI!

Food Cravings?  Nothing in particular!

What I Miss? Being able to eat dinner while sitting on the couch…unfortunately my belly is so big it makes it awkward to try to eat unless I’m sitting at a table.  And that whole “use your belly as a shelf” thing doesn’t work for me.

Symptoms?  Heartburn, round ligament pain, general giant-ness and uncomfortableness.

Belly Button?  Out

Best Moment of the Week?  I think this whole week’s been pretty fantastic…we moved into our new house, I’ve been doing baby laundry, washing all his clothes in special “baby safe” detergent and stuff…and next week I plan on going final baby shopping.  Robert’s room has been painted, we have his crib and changing table/dresser in his room and set up, so now it’s just filling it up with all his fun stuff!

P.S. Random strangers are now commenting on my belly... “When are you due?”  “Do you know what you’re having?” and the weirdest… “Don’t date!” which was spoken directly to my belly by a bizarre Walmart employee.  Uhhh…ok?  The employee did ask me what I was having, to which I responded “Boy” and then he proceeded to tell my belly not to date.  So strange.  I quickly got my over-the-door towel rack and left the area.

35 Weeks and Giant

I don't really have an update today...I'm just feeling giant, even though I know I don't LOOK that huge.  Sometimes I really wonder how my stomache can actually grow anymore...it just feels so tight and stretched!

We've moved into our new house this weekend (yaaay!) and things are getting put away/organized, slowly but surely.  The whole house is basically white, so color needed to be added, pronto.  We painted the master bedroom a bright green, like we had in our house in Dallas, and we painted the office a really nice warm yellow-y beige color (Honeysuckle Beige, to be exact).  We painted the little dude's room also (a nice warm teddy bear brown color), we've put together his crib and moved in his changing table/dresser.  I've also done a load or two of baby laundry with special ultra sensitive laundry detergent.  I still have lots to do, though!  Plus I really want to paint the dining room, kitchen, living room, and foyer...just a few more rooms, right?

Fun fact, my doctor here takes ultrasound pics every time I go in (which is once a week now), so I get lots of pictures of my sweet Rob-O.  I think I'm kind of crazy about him already!  Here are a few 3D pictures of him from our last appointment on Monday.  So funny!!

Yes, I think I need to give him a hug :)

Home Owners Once Again!

We closed on our new house this morning!  Hooray!!  We spent the rest of the afternoon painting and moving some boxes/unloading kitchen stuff.  Tomorrow we're moving furniture, painting, and doing more unloading.  More to come later!  Right now I'm pooped, but LOVE the new house. :)

Post Doctor Update

So we went to our new doctor today, hooray!  He was much better than the last one!!!  Talked a lot and talked fast, but was nice and seemed more interested in me and BJ rather than my chart.  We got a couple of pictures of little Rob-O and I am starting my weekly visits, so I'll be heading back next week!  He did an ultrasound, and baby is head down (hooray) but still pretty high, so the doctor doesn't think he'll be making an appearance anytime too soon.  Baby Robert might end up being a bobble head, as his head was measuring a couple weeks ahead of schedule, with the rest of his body measuring at or a little behind schedule.  But he'll be a cute bobble head :).  Everything looks good, so we are right on track for the normal due date (October 27)!  Yay!

34 Week Update

34 Weeks...shirt makes my belly look lumpy!

How Far Along? 34 Weeks!

Size of Baby?  Weighs about as much as your average cantaloupe (4.75 lbs) and is about 18 inches long.

Maternity Clothes?  Maternity…however it’s getting cooler outside (yaaay fall!) but I have mostly summer maternity clothes…soooooo I’m starting to wear pre-maternity cardigans with my maternity tanks.  Also, I have 2 pair of maternity jeans, therefore they’re getting a lot of wear.

Weight Gain?  20ish lbs…we’ll see the official weight gain at the new doctor’s appointment tomorrow! J

Gender?  Boy!  Robert Oscar (Rob-O, Rosco, ROD, Roberto, Pumpkin, Little Monkey, there are a plethora of nicknames as of right now).

Sleep? Still sleeping well aside from the 2-3 potty breaks in the middle of the night

Food Cravings?  Nothing in particular…getting back on my normal “diet” this week…meat, veggies, fruit, with allowances for chocolate J.

What I Miss? Being able to get off the couch without a struggle, being able to bend over to pick stuff up, being able to move/carry stuff, being able to do a decent workout (no joke, my “workout” on Saturday was walking a mile…it took me 27 minutes…bleh).

Symptoms? Heartburn, and I’m starting to feel some sharp little pains here and there…are they Braxton Hicks contractions?  No clue.

Belly Button?  Out

Best Moment of the Week?  This weekend my sister-in-law threw a fabulous little baby shower for me! (Shout out, Crystal!) She did an AWESOME job decorating and making little foods for it!  I was thoroughly impressed!!  My cousin, Jessica, got me the CUTEST cake as well (holla for argyle!).  I felt very loved!!  J  Thanks everyone!!

Welcome sign on the front door
Yummy foods and cute decorations
Balloons, decorations, gifts
Parting gifts
Cake!  Yum!  It tasted as good as it looked!

Also, we’re VERY excited about going to the new doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning!  I’ll do a quick update after the appointment as well.  Childbirth classes start on Tuesday, so that could be awesome and traumatizing.  Hopefully more of the former than the later.

AND, this week is the week we close on our new house!!  Hooray!!  I’ve already scheduled our electricity to be turned on, gas to be turned on, and cable/internet to be turned on.  I have to go to city hall to get the water turned on, so I’ll do that this week sometime.  I’ve also scheduled carpet cleaners to come on closing day so we’ll have them nice and clean before we move in!  Things are happening fast!!  Yay!

33 Week Update

I'm not using the normal template today, I'm just too lazy. :)

I'm 33 weeks as of Saturday, I'm feeling huge and very pregnant and it's getting harder to get comfortable.  I wake up 2-3 times a night to go to the bathroom, my hips usually hurt when I wake up, and after climbing the stairs my legs/bum are kind of burning like I've just done a million lunges.  What was Rob-O's judo chops to the ribs now feels like Sonic the Hedgehog is rolling around in my stomach...less sharp jabs more rolling and tossing and turning.  I still have lots of heartburn, I'm mostly in maternity clothes (even my big t-shirts are getting too short), and I'm pretty much all belly, as people have been telling me.  Luckily, my ankles/feet/fingers haven't swollen, so I'm still wearing my rings and my high heels (when the occasion calls for them).  I have a doctor's appointment with a NEW doctor on Monday (one that was recommended by friends), and I'm looking forward to that!

Also, we're supposed to close on our new house next week!!  Eeeek!!  So excited!!  I can't wait to get settled in before the baby is born.  We're going to have the carpets cleaned and we need to paint a few rooms, then we'll be ready to move in!  We'll pick up the crib and changing table/dresser that weekend and I'll spend the next week unboxing things and putting them together, getting the car seat all prepared, and washing sheets, clothes and the cloth diapers that I've ordered.  Yes, we're doing cloth diapers.  It should be interesting.  :)

I look pretty terrifying in this pic, so ignore me from the shoulders up...focus on the bump.

32 Week Update

How Far Along? 32 Weeks
Size of Baby? Well The Bump says the same thing as it did last week,15.2 to 16.7 inches long and anywhere from 2.5 to 3.8 lbs, but this time it's saying squash sized instead of pineapple.  Baby Center says he's about 3.75 lbs (the weight of a large jicima) and 16.7 inches, which is just the larger size of the range that The Bump gives.
Maternity Clothes? Maternity and BJ's t-shirts (mine are all so short!)
Weight Gain?  Per the doctor's office visit yesterday morning, I think we're rocking about 19 lbs.
Gender? Boy! Robert Oscar
Sleep? Sleeping well! When I wake up to go pee, it's hard to get out of bed, but I manage.
Food Cravings?  Normal Jenni cravings, i.e. sugar.  Trying to reign it in though.
What I Miss? Dairy without the pain of heartburn. Sleeping on my belly or back.
Symptoms? Heartburn, jumpy belly, and hip pain at night.
Belly Button? Out
Best Moment of the Week?  We closed on our house in Dallas!  It's a done deal, sold and no longer ours to deal with.  Yaaay!  Now we just need to finalize the purchase of the NEW house (closing is still scheduled for the 20th) and move in!  Also, we got a crib and dresser/changing table for Robert!  Yaaaay again!  One other big thing to mark off the list!

Please ignore the crazy hair and the make-up-less face.  I look atrocious.

So I also went to my first OB visit here in Tulsa with a doctor that my Dallas OB had suggested.  I LOVED my Dallas OB...this one though, not so much.  I appreciate physicians that listen to what I'm saying, will talk to me and at least make an effort to get to know the person that they're treating.  I'm not expecting them to be my BFF or anything, but I'd like them to at least try to be present in the conversation when in the room with me.

So I went to this new OB in Tulsa and answered all the normal questions with the nurse.  I explained to her that I didn't take the glucose test because I check my blood sugar on a regular basis in the morning when I get up and an hour or two after meals, and I know what it SHOULD be because I have husband and sister-in-law that are both diabetic and I'm pretty well versed in the subject.  I completely understand any physician/nurse's initial concern when they hear that I didn't take the glucose test, but after I get a chance to explain myself they typically are much more "ok" with it (again, if the doc just gets to know me they will realize that I'm a huge information nerd and love tracking crap like that and I'm going to be aware if something like a change in blood sugar trends happens).  The nurse also listened to the baby's heartbeat and took my blood pressure.  In Dallas, the doctor was always the one that listened to the heartbeat, but I guess it just depends on the practice.  I think it might show that the Dallas OB was much more "hands on" with her patients, but who really knows.

Then the doc came in after the nurse.  The doctor basically asked me the same questions that the nurse just did (does the nurse not take notes?  Does the doc not read them before she asks me the same thing?) while looking down at her papers and when she asked me if I had taken the glucose test, I go "Actually, I opted out of it --" and before I could finish my sentence she interrupted with "It's not an option."  So I go on to explain WHY my doctor in Dallas was comfortable with me not taking it (see above explanation of blood sugar checking).  She didn't make any further protests about it, but then goes on to say, "So both your husband AND your sister-in-law have type 1 diabetes?  Is that your husband's sister?  Your baby already has bad genes!"  Hold the phone...yes, this doctor just told me that my baby has bad genes.  WHO SAYS THAT TO A FIRST TIME MOM?!?!?!?  I can only hope it was her ill attempt at humor.  I was kind of shocked and just laughed and was like, "Yeah, well it's something we're very cognizant of and something we will be watching for in the future...".  After that she just gave me a lab order to go get a CBC done to check for anemia (since normally the anemia test is done w/ the glucose test) and measured my tummy and sent me on my way.  I made another appointment, which I will be cancelling.  I told BJ what she said and he was not too happy about it (understandably).

I've asked around and have made another appointment with another doctor here in Tulsa.  This doctor was referred to us by some of our close friends, so we have a much better feeling about this one!  We also reserved a spot in child birth classes at one of the local hospitals, so that will be SUPER helpful (starts September 18th!) and I can't wait learn some stuff, b/c I'm flying blind right now with this whole labor and delivery thing.

Holy cow I can't believe I only have 8 more weeks (give or take!)!!

FOOTBALL!!!

Football season is here!  Hooray!!  I love me some Tulsa football and can't wait to see how this season plays out.  Little Robert is even due on a bye week (I know, I know, it's doubtful he'll actually grace us with his presence on the actual due date, but I still like the idea that he respects the football schedule), so hopefully I don't miss too much this season.  I'm excited we'll be in town and able to actually go to the games now, too.  We didn't buy season tickets this year (for obvious reasons) but hopefully next year we will.  Tailgates, homecoming, fall and football make Jenni a happy girl!  And yes, when I watch football on TV I yell, clap and sometimes even throw in some spirit fingers.  You can take the girl out of the cheerleading uniform but you can't take the cheerleader out of the girl.

Happy Jenni at a football game!

Goodbye Dallas!

This past weekend we moved out of our home of 4 years :(  It was very sad and very tiring!  Crap we have a lot of stuff!  We did all the moving out ourselves, with the help of BJ's parents and his sister and bro-in-law.  We packed, loaded and moved our lives from our house in Dallas to BJ's parents garage and spare bedrooms.  We are so grateful that they are letting us stay with them until our new house closes in September!

I was not much help...being 7 months pregnant makes you a pretty terrible mover, so I went around and took a few pictures after the house was cleaned out.

The kitchen...oh how I'll miss this kitchen!
The living room, looking into the kitchen.  The living room was so nice and huge, and the opening into the kitchen REALLY opened up the space even more!  It was fantastic!
The view of the fireplace in the living room from the kitchen.  Again, the living room was huge and wonderful.
Master bathroom...we had granite put in at the beginning of the year, replacing the sweet faux marble seashell sinks circa 1977.

Master bedroom...I think I might paint our new bedroom this color because it was very soothing and bright :)

Empty master closet...it was a nice big closet for a house built in the 70s!

We waved goodbye to the house on Sunday morning around 9:30 a.m. and headed north to Oklahoma.  It was definitely a sad moment (there may have been a tear...or two).  We received our closing documents on Tuesday, signed them, had them notarized, and overnighted them back to Dallas yesterday.  Closing is happening today (Thursday) and so by the end of the day we will officially no longer be Dallas residents.  Pray that all goes well and funding happens as planned!

31 Week Update

Final picture at the house in Dallas...so sad!

How Far Along? 31 Weeks
Size of Baby?  15.2 to 16.7 inches long and anywhere from 2.5 to 3.8 lbs.  Fruit-wise, we're the size of a pinapple, though not as prickly.
Maternity Clothes?  Mostly maternity, and whatever is not already packed away.
Weight Gain?  Around 20 lbs I believe...the scale is buried in a box somewhere in the garage.
Gender?  Boy!  Robert Oscar
Sleep? Sleeping well!  When I wake up to go pee, it's hard to get out of bed, but I manage.
Food Cravings?  The M&Ms that are staring at me from the little candy dish in my in-laws house.  Darn you M&Ms.
What I Miss? Dairy without the pain of heartburn.  Sleeping on my belly or back.
Symptoms? Just the aforementioned heartburn and the constantly moving tummy...seriously...does this kid sleep??
Belly Button?  Out
Best Moment of the Week?  The sweet girls at my office threw me a little informal baby shower, complete with cute decorations and sweet treats!  It was so thoughtful of them and  I will miss them so much!  My last day of work was this past Friday, so now I am officially unemployeed in Oklahoma!  But there is PLENTY to do in preparation for the move to the new house (close should happen in September) and in preparation for the baby!
